Privacy Policy for Blinkfish
Last updated: 7 August 2026
Blinkfish (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a mobile learning application that shows short on-screen prompts to help you learn characters, symbols, and other skillsets.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses and how it is handled.
1. Summary
Blinkfish is designed to work primarily on your device.
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not operate a user database that stores your personal learning progress on our servers.
2. Information stored on your device
The app stores the following information locally on your device only:
- Your selected skillsets and unlock status
- Learning progress (characters seen, introduction status, quiz results, daily stats)
- App settings (popup frequency, quiet hours, interactive mode, permissions state, etc.)
- Whether you have completed onboarding
This data stays on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.
3. Permissions the app may request
Depending on the features you enable, Blinkfish may ask for:
- Display over other apps – to show short learning popups on top of other apps
- Notifications – to deliver learning prompts and status messages
- Usage access – to detect when you are in apps where popups should be paused (for example Camera or Phone) and to support frequency features
- Battery optimization exemption – so the learning scheduler can keep running reliably in the background
- Full-screen notifications (on some devices) – so prompts can appear clearly when appropriate
These permissions are used only to provide the core learning experience. You can revoke them at any time in your device settings.
4. Purchases
Blinkfish offers optional one-time in-app purchases to unlock additional skillsets.
Payment processing is handled by Google Play and, where used, RevenueCat.
We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
Google’s and RevenueCat’s own privacy policies apply to the payment process.
5. Third-party services
The app may use the following third-party services:
- Google Play Billing – for processing purchases
- RevenueCat – to manage in-app purchase entitlements
These services process data according to their own privacy policies.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Children’s privacy
Blinkfish is not directed at children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
7. Data retention and deletion
Because learning progress and settings are stored on your device, you can remove them at any time by:
- Clearing the app’s data in your device settings, or
- Uninstalling the app
We do not keep a separate copy of your progress on our servers.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
